Since starting our kennel in 1989 Ishmael changed its needs in the past year to include a small farm. Our love for the Akita breed made us go on a search for a dog that would have the same protective qualities as the Akita, but would get along with the farm animals, other dogs and especially children. Our search turned up the South African Boerboel. After waiting three months we imported our male and ordered a female. Our waiting will soon end as we hope to add our female in February. This breed is amazing in its intelligence. As I happen to have physical disabilities, Storm is being trained as a 'helper' to me. He starts his training in January 2004 and will go from there. This breed is recognized by the FCI and judges are brought to Canada so they can achieve a rare breed championship in this country. Also, twice per year, an S.A.B.T. evaluator is brought in to evaluate our Boerboels here in Canada and the U.S.A. Storm is out of the top scoring female in South Africa with a 93%.
His father is the top winning Boerboel in South Africa. Tequila will also be from these lines so that here at Ishmael our first litter will be a nice linebreeding on some of the nicest Boerboel's South Africa has to offer.
